Please do inform us of any achievements from your children so we can all celebrate with them as a community, and encourage other students to take part in events in and outside of school.

Equally, if there is anything you would like to be seen added to this forum, then please don’t hesitate to contact us with this information and we will happily spread the word for you!

I hope that you enjoy following us on our journey this academic year, and we look forward to sharing an insight into our lovely boarding house community!

Halloween Party

Alexandra House celebrated Halloween early this year as the holiday falls in the half-term – we couldn’t miss out! So, the boarding house was turned into a ‘haunted’ house as a backdrop to the games and shenanigans. Check out the photos!

Year 11 Prank

The year 11 leavers continued the tradition of mischief on their last day. They wrapped the furniture in cling film and hung newspaper from the ceiling. There were a few giggles from the younger years when they saw their leaving “present” the next morning.

Chinese Takeaway

The girls were treated to a Chinese takeaway in the House for special supper this week. They were very gracious and enjoyed every last bit!

Approved.

Miss Gladstone has been putting the Cricut to good use. Look how creative and amazing these frames look!

Exam season is upon us…

This week the Year 10’s are sitting their mock GCSE exams. The Year 10’s have teamed up to support each other with their revision. In three weeks the Year 11’s and Year 13’s will also be sitting exams – their ‘real’ GCSE’s and A-Levels. Nearly all the surfaces in Alexandra House are covered with notes and revision books – the girls have even pinched the whiteboard! Their effort will be rewarded if they keep up the hard work in this vital time.

Year 13’s studying for their sociology exam.
Year 11’s sharing a laugh whilst preparing for their physics mock exam.

Review: Go, Grow and Glow Dinner

Go Grow and Glow – From the perspective of Farah Chibapwe-Matondo.

Upon entering the restaurant-themed common room, the smell of the freshly cooked food made our tummies rumble.

“Relaxing restaurant jazz” music added to the ambience and the evening we had all been anticipating for the past fortnight.

Whilst graciously placing food in front of us. The amazement and happiness was evident in everyone’s eyes. We had all been wondering what Barny could magically come up with using our wacky list of ingredients. But our expectations had been smashed out the window.

The flavours on our plates was pure indescribable culinary perfection.

Cameras flashing everywhere. Everyone wanting to treasure this truly special experience

A delicious starter adorned with the very features of our Go, Grow & Glow mystery box list.

The showstopper dish was the main.

A lobster like looking creature we all had an adventure and an educational experience deconstructing, whilst fiddling with its head but then reaching the juicy morsel of meat that rested in its tail. But the heart of the main …. the steak. A succulent mouthful of sirloin that melted in your mouth like butter. Cooked to perfection. Glazed in a sweet soy sauce and uniquely accompanied with a spicy scotch bonnet dressing. Heightening the fiery complimentary flavours.

Adding the finishing touch to our 3 Michelin star style evening was the cheesecake, a thoughtfully imagined piece of art; swirls of passion fruit and mango beautifully danced on the plate and entered our mouths with a crunchy yet satisfying bite of amoretti biscuit

Ms Gladstone and Miss Godsave expertly balanced 3 plates on their arms as they whisked our empty plates back to the kitchen, as we sipped on our mock “rosés” feeling like proper ladies. Ladies who felt very privileged to be in the midst of a very special talented chef.

Eating healthily never tasted so good.

Gourmet Meal

Fourteen of our girls received a fine dining experience as a reward to those that completed the Grow, Glow & Glow Challenge. The three course diner was cooked by executive chef manager Mr Cross. The dinner was a huge success, with many of the girls having tried and enjoyed new foods. We hope to start a tradition and have the challenge and dinner bigger and better next year.
